
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek , born 2 September 1966)[3][4][5]), is an American and Mexican actress. She started her career in Mexico with leading roles in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as well as the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) in which she was awarded an Ariel Award nomination. She quickly made herself known in Hollywood with appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) as well as Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal as painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) that she also directed was the first Mexican actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress[6In addition, she earned her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to produce and acted in action-oriented movies like Once Upon a Time in Mexico in the years following.
