Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is American Canadian singer and songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. Her music is classified by DiFranco as folk, alternative and rock and pop, however she also draws influences of jazz and hip hop. Ani diFranco was among the first person to create her own label in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered as one of the feminist icons. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They came together at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian heritage, and her mother hails from Montreal. 32 Flavors is a hit song composed as well as performed by Ani DiFranco. The track is part of her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth album for her studio. This track appears on the film soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized for arranging a conference in Louisiana at an old slave plantation. It was cancelled but a lot of people (including this paper) did not show any remorse. DiFranco offered a second apology days later. Her name is associated with her Little Folksinger music, but she's worked with many artists as well as genres ranging from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She resides in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. She was 14 when she began writing music of her own. As a teenager she performed songs at bars and cafes. DiFranco graduated from The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school when she was 16 and started attending classes in Buffalo State College. Ani's baritone was a custom Alvarez guitar, which was designed after several meetings with Chrys and an Alvarez representative for artists during the time.
